New England and other colonies

So the Question is In what ways did agriculture differ in the three colonial regions?

Well in New England they didn't have very good weather like very cold winter and short growing seasons and rugged landscape. But they did get to fish a lot and send the salted cod to Europe.

In the middle colonies the weather was better and they were able to grow large amounts of wheat that they got to trade with Europe. They were booming while New England was stagnated. New York and Philadelphia were two big seaports that prospered in the Middle colonies.

But in the South the weather was perfect and the growing seasons were long they got the most valuable profits and the did the best, they grew tobacco and wheat, which were staple crops which means that they were on high demand at that time.

Cause and Effect of Jamestown

So the cause for Jamestown to be established was mostly from people wanting land, so like whoever paid for passage to Virginia or paid for someone else passage got 50 acres of land there to start plantations and the landowners imported people from England to come help them grow the plantations.

But the effect turned out to be a little bad. After so many people were coming to Virginia the land began to grow it went into the property of the Indians and they got mad and did a surprise attack on Jamestown and burned the plantations and killed one third of colonists!

New France

Their question - How did the battle at Lake Champlain change the methods used by the Iroquois to fight the French.

My answer - After they saw the French fighting with guns they changed their fighting tactics so instead of fighting in clumps they were more scattered and used trees as cover and fought by attacking then retreating under cover.

Their question - Why did New France attract few colonists.

My answer - Because there wasn't much opportunity beyond trading for deerskin with the Indians or raising poor quality tobacco it was also very swampy and diseases came from the swamps such as malaria and dysentery.

Spanish Colonization

1.     Explain how the Spanish set up their colonies.

They used a monarchy with a King and Queen at the top then they divided the Americas into five provinces. They also appointed people to go and live in these provinces, they were called viceroys. They also created a council called the Council of the Indies, which would create the laws. But there were some problems The viceroy lived in the province so they knew what was needed and what was not. But the council of the Indies could only guess what was right. Then there was the problem with birth. The people who were born in Spain were at the top they were called Peninsulares. Then there were people with Spanish parents but were born in America, they were called Creoles. Then there were people who had a Spanish parent and an Indian parent, they were called Mestizos. They lacked identity because they were neither Spanish or Indian they were Mestizos.

2.     Explain how the Spanish got the Native Americans to work on the farms.

They used a system called Encomienda, so they let the Native Americans have some land and then sneakily they have a Spanish guy get on the property and own it and then forces the Native Americans to work, they became like slaves. They get paid but not for how much work they do.

3.     Explain how the Spanish got the Native Americans to work in the mines.

Well they used this system  called the Draft. So every village of Native Americans had a quota of people (a limited or fixed number or amount of people) to go work in the mines each year.
But the working conditions in the mines were awful wet and cold and they had to carry giant bags of ore up out of the mine they got sweaty after doing this and some of them died once they got out of the mine and went back in because of the climate change. Just like on the farms they got paid but not as much as they should get for how much work they are doing.

4.     Explain how the Spanish replaced the Native Americans with a different source of cheap labor.

They imported Africans and made them slaves. Because the Native Americans were dying to quickly.

Jamestown

1.    Explain what Roanoke was and why it failed

The Roanoke was a Colony in the Americas. It was a fail because Raleigh put most of his money into an investment but then it failed because he was the one putting the money in and if it failed then he would lose his money, but if he made other people put their money in it like starting a lemonade stand then he would just run the lemonade stand if it went good than you are ok and the people who put their money into the Lemonade stand are ok but if you don't sell then you are still good but the people who invested in it lose their money. Raleigh then learned to make other people invest to not lose his money.

2.   Explain why Jamestown succeeded as the first English colony in North America.

They Succeeded because they built a fort first on a swamp and it was good for their defense and no one could get to them. John Smith also helped.

3.   Explain the role John Smith played in saving Jamestown.

Well everyone was going to search for gold and everyone was close to dying because they had not made farms to eat from. But then John Smith (Who is famous from the Pocahontas movie) got everything in order and forced people to work instead of hunting for gold. He even threatened to kill people if they didn't do as he said.

4.   Identify how most English colonies made money.

Well they got gold from the Native Americans by trading and conquering their cities of gold.

French colonization

1.  Identify the first French explorer who discovered Canada
The first French explorer to discover Canada was named Jacques Cartier.

2.  Explain why the French had to work with the Native Americans
Because they didn't have that many people and couldn't farm or take over the Native Americans.

3.  Explain how the French ran their trapping business.
They built trading posts along the Native Americans border and they traded furs for weapons horses and jewelry, things that the Native Americans didn't have, it worked out for both of them.

4.   Explain why the way the French used the land clashed with the way the English used the land.
Well the French wanted to use the land for trapping but the English wanted to farm it and they couldn't both do the same thing there so the English over ran the French with their population

Expansion into Africa

1.   Define and explain the Partition of Africa.

The partition of Africa was a conference that was held to decide how to divide the African continent between themselves. But the Africans were not invited to this conference, which was very unfair.

2.   Define and explain imperialism.

It if when one country chooses to dominate another countries affairs. Usually they set up a colony in that country to guarantee full control

3.   Explain why Europe felt justified in colonizing Africa.

They said that they were bringing a better way of life to Africa along with religion. But this was not necessarily what the Africans wanted.

4.   Identify the first European country to Establish contact with Africa.

Belgium was the first country to establish a colony in the Congo in central Africa

5.   Identify the diseases that impeded the progress of Europeans in Africa.

The two diseases were Malaria and yellow fever which were caused by mosquitoes.

China and Europe

1.  Identify how China was before being conquered.

Very powerful and if someone wanted to trade with china the only thing they could trade was gold or silver because the Chinese either had that thing or could make it better than anyone else.

2.  Explain the downfall of the Chinese government before the Europeans took over.
They had population growth. Too many mouths to feed and not enough farmers to farm that food.
Corruption of the government. One person was able to steal almost a billion dollars in over 30 years. The Chinese instead of making police guard the money made everyone pay higher taxes which the people didn't like. The Opium war. England was importing Opium to China. A highly addictive drug that the Chinese spent a lot of money for. After the Chinese banned opium the English still sent a lot oif opium in a ship and the Chinese decided to throw it into the water. The English got mad and they fought them in a battle that they won fairly easily. The Chinese also had poor weapons

3.  Name the dynasty that controlled China before the Europeans took over.

The Manchu Dynasty

European Eploration

1.     Identify the different explorers who came to  the Americas and what they did.

Well the first one is Christopher Columbus, he found the Americas while trying to find Asia but when he found the Americas he thought it was Asia. The next man was also the first one to make it to the America's his name was Juan Ponce de Leon he was looking for the fountain of youth. Unfortunately he didn't find it though and the only thing he became famous for was being the first to arrive in the America's. The next explorer was the first to see the Pacific ocean. His name was Balboa he never crossed it though. The man to cross it was named Sir Francis Drake.

2.     Explain the technological advances that allowed European explorers to travel better.

Well there was the Compass, Better boats to travel faster in, there were better maps with Latitude and Longitude, and there was the Astrolabe which helped them know their location better by measuring the Latitude.

3.     Explain the contributions the Spanish and Portuguese made towards the discovery of the Americas.

Well they sent a lot of explorers to discover it and they were some of the first Europeans to colonize the Americas. They also made big stories like Christopher Columbus who thought he had found Asia but had not. Then there was Juan Ponce de leon who actually thought there was a fountain of youth but was disappointed to find that there wasn't one.

Economics in Europe

1.     Explain the role of merchants in pushing Europe into exploring the rest of the world.

Well they wanted to travel a lot to far off places to trade. So those new places got explored, and the merchants also got goods from those new places to show back at his home. He could trade it for more.

2.     Explain how merchants were able to reduce the risk of these adventures

So the Merchants all had a lot of money, but sometimes on adventures they got robbed and they lost a lot of money. So the merchants all gathered together and decided that they should put all of their money together and then if one guy got robbed then they still had enough money for that guy. It was kind of like insurance today.

Renaissance Reformation

1.     Explain the Teachings of Martin Luther and his actions against the Catholic Church.

Well he believed some of the teachings of the Catholic church. That they started good, but now that there was like only one religion the Catholic church was using it's power for wrong things. Martin Luther didn't like this and he posted ninety five of his theses, or things he didn't like about the Catholic church, on the Church so everyone could see them.

2.     Identify the other influential people during the Reformation.

Another monk by the name of  Girolamo Savonarola also wanted a reformation. But the Catholic Church executed him. Another man named John Calvin spread Protestantism. I personally don't like John that much. I don't like his Ideas, I think they are wrong. When Martin Luther says it doesn't matter what actions you take all that matters is your faith in God, and that you should read the bible because it has all of the truth in it, he even translated it to German so they could read it. But John Calvin says we were Predestined, that we already were chosen where we were going to go before we came to earth, that our actions on earth didn't matter, because we were already chosen. The people said that is this were true then they didn't have any motivation to do anything good. He countered that by saying you should live good lives to show that you are chosen by God.

3.     Explain the Counter-Reformation.

Well the Catholic church decided to try a reformation after Queen Elizabeth I. One of the things they did was train better priests because that was one of the complains on Martin Luther's list. They also had new Religious orders such as the Jesuit Order where members worked as missionaries and preached all around the world. Another one was getting rid of everything that was bad even through violence if necessary.

The Effects of the Renaissance on Everyday Life

1.  Explain how the Renaissance movement changed the everyday life of the people of Europe.

The Renaissance had a lasting effect on the people in Europe because of the Printing press. Before the printing press not everyone could have a book, only the rich people could own books because of how expensive they were. But when the Printing press came around almost everyone could own a book.

2.  Explain the impact of the printing press on the lives of the people of Europe.

Well now that they had a printing press they could all own books. Before that the books were hand written and were much more expensive. It was a good impact. People from far away could read about things happening in France.

3.  Explain how the printing press evolved.

Well first you had to invent paper. The Chinese were credited for inventing paper. Then you had to stamps words on the paper. But with the printing press you could stamp whole pages at once. Johann Gutenberg is the man that got the credit for taking the last step and actually completing the printing press. The first book that was written was the Bible which I think was awesome.

the Renaissance

1. So I am going to say a few thing about some significant people of the renaissance

The first one is Francesco Petrarch. He was a scholar and he dedicated himself to discovering and studying old manuscripts. After he got the manuscripts he had to verify their authenticity, (to see if they were real) which was very hard. He also researched about other people like St. Augustine and Cicero. Because of what he did the world now hoe has more knowledge of who the classical writers were and what they said.

The second one was Niccolo Machiavelli. He was an author. I don't like his ideas that much. He says like that you should cheat and be dishonest to achieve your goal. So like it doesn't matter how you achieve your goal all that matters is that you achieve your goal. He also wrote a handbook called the Prince.

The third person is Miguel de Cervantes. Cervantes is the author of Don Quixote. It is a book about the medieval lifestyle. He represents the Renaissance spirit by his skills of a wide amount of knowledge.

The fourth man is William Shakespeare. You might know him for some of his plays such as Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and Othello. He is probably one of the best English writers ever. An example of that is that he invented hundreds of words that we now use today.

The Fifth person is Leonardo da Vinci, which means Leonardo from Vinci. He was an incredible artist and known for some of his masterpieces like the Mona Lisa. He also did a lot of human anatomy and dissected dead bodies. He also made his own flying machine. He was a big part of the Renaissance movement.

The Sixth person is Michelangelo. He was mostly known for his work on the Sistine Chapel. He is also was good at poetry and designing. Every day he would spend hours on his backside depicting Biblical stories with his art.

The seventh man is Raphael. He helped Influence the works of Leonardo and Michelangelo. He was also one of the first artists to start using brighter colors in his works. He like Michelangelo also maintained a very religious theme in his artwork.

The Eighth person is Donatello. He was one of the best sculptors to come out of the Renaissance movement. He was best known for hist statue of David. He was one of the first to make a statue with just one person not a lot of people. You could focus on David from all sides because it was only him.

The ninth and last man is Jan van Eyck. Jan van Eyck was known for his exceeding attention to detail. His art looked like photographs. Throughout all of his art he maintained a strong religious theme.

The beginning of the Renaissance

1. Define Renaissance.
Renaissance is the time in Europe when everyone wanted to focus on being good at everything. Like not really good at one thing and bad at another but pretty good on both of them. Renaissance also means rebirth. They were being re birthed back into a time where everyone wanted to learn and be good at everything.

2. Explain why it started in Northern Italy.
It started in Northern Italy because there was a lot of trade going on around there. A lot of wealthy merchants were in Northern Italy, and because they didn't have to work that much (because they were so rich) they had more time to study.

3.Explain what a Renaissance person is like.
A Renaissance person was very knowledgeable in almost everything. They tried to learn everything and be equally good at it. Not to good at one thing not to bad at one thing right in the middle.

4.Explain how the Renaissance movement was different in Northern Italy and the rest of Europe
Well the farther north you went the more people were focused on religion. Because they were focused on religion they believed God wanted them to be better people so they tried harder and studied more.

Arrival of the first Americans and Plains Indians

1. Explain the four theories on how the Americas became inhabited

Well the first theory was the Ice/Land Bridge theory. It said that Russia was touching Alaska by either the ice or by land.
The second theory was the Native Americans had always lived in the Americas.
The third Theory was that some of the ten tribes of Israel got scattered to the Americas.
The fourth Theory is the most unlikely. It is that the sailors got lost and ended up in the Americas. But you need men and women to start life so unless there were woman on board this doesn't work.

2. Explain how and why people spread out once they were in the Americas.

Well the hunters and gatherers had to roam for their food because they didn't grow it they had to find animals and fruit to eat. So they kept on spreading. They also wanted land for themselves

3. Explain how the Plains Indians adjusted to the environment they lived in.

Well they killed a lot of buffalo to eat but when the United states killed almost all of the buffalo they didn't have much to eat. Then the Americans taught them how to grow food. Then they got horses so they could hunt even better.

Americas Geography

1. Explain the four unique characteristics of the rain forest
The four unique characteristics of the rain forest are Precipitation, which is another word for moisture. There is a lot of moisture in the rain forest because of the many rain storms.
The second one is Hot and Humid.
Rain forests are also very hot because they are close to the equator. They are also humid because of the heat and the moisture.
The third one is that there are many plants in the rain forest. Some are useful like to help wounds or for eating.
The fourth one is that there are many animals. The rain forest is home to many animals and some of them only live in the rain forest, like some poisonous frogs.

2. Define hunter and gatherer
Hunters and gatherers lived where there was always food, because of this they had to move around a lot to find food again.

3. Define farmer
A farmer lives where there isn't that much food, then he settles down and he grows food. He saves some for the winter too

Panini world cup stickers

So I recently ordered some Panini world cup soccer stickers + an album to put them in. Now I had done this 4 years ago for the last world cup. I had actually gotten some of the best players there like, Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, and Neymar. I had gotten the book as a gift then from one of my soccer friends. So I had to buy the packs individually. I remember when I got Ronaldo. Dad had gone into the store and came out with a pack of cards. I opened them and there was Ronaldo! I was so happy, because at that time Ronaldo had been my favorite player. So when I went to order the stickers again this year I found a good deal at walmart. 45 dollars for the album and 50 packs of 5 stickers each which is 250 stickers altogether. My dad wanted to see if there was anything that was cheaper and found one on amazon which was 40 dollars for the same thing. But in the reviews no one got the album with the stickers. So we didn't get those. Then we ordered the ones from walmart. I can't wait to get the stickers, they will get here on may 16th. I think either Spain or France are going to win the world cup this year. So I will get all of the players for those teams.

The Catholic Church

1.  Discuss the role of the Catholic Church during Medieval Europe.

Well the Catholic Church organization was just like the Medieval social order. The Pope was like the King, the Archbishop was like the Lord, the Bishop was like the Knight, and the Priest was like the Peasant. The pope made dioceses which were large divisions which had many Churches where the Catholics could attend church. Then he appointed Bishops to be in charge of those dioceses. Then if there was a problem and the bishop needs help he would ask the person above him. But since the pope didn't want to have to worry about all of that he appointed archbishops to help out, they oversaw a few dioceses. Then there was the Priest, he oversaw just one of the many churches in the diocese. He helped the members there. Charlemagne helped the Catholic church become the main religion in Europe.

Now that the church had that power, it used it to try to stop warfare. First they encouraged the knights to stop fighting, but they ignored them. Then they said that they should not fight anyone who was not part of the war. When again they ignored them, they set a decree that said they were not to fight on Friday's or Sundays of every week. Eventually in the 1100s the fighting started to subside. The Catholic church also used its power for good by making monasteries. Monasteries were basically refuges from war for people in the area.

2.  Discuss the impact the four different crusades had on Europe, the Church, and Jerusalem.

Well for the first crusade the pope helped unite the people against the Turks to get Jerusalem (their holy city) back.

But once inside the city, the knights killed everyone they could for personal gain. After they conquered it they divided it up into four different parts, and it was ruled in peace for the next 150 years.

But in 1144 the Turks took control of the holy city again. A French monk called for a second crusade, but it ended in failure and they were unable to drive away the Turks. Then when another Muslim army attacked they called for a third crusade. This crusade was special because King Richard of England fought in the war.

But even with him they couldn't win. But they did reach an agreement. Now the holy city was holy for both people. So they agreed that the Muslims could have the city but they would have to allow safe passage through the city. The Muslims agreed and it was settled.

I think the impact that the Catholic church had was that it got a lot more power, also it was much more widely known.

Piano Guys Concert

So I recently went to a Piano Guys concert. We drove from our house all the way to Worcester. I brought my wallet (It came in handy after:) which had $94 in it. When we got to where the concert was we tried to find parking. Dad said that we should go to the library after we had passed a parking lot that cost ten dollars. But everyone else including myself  said that we should go to the ten dollar parking lot. So we did a U-turn and when we got there they only took cash so I gave mom my wallet and she took ten dollars out and gave it to the guy there while asking if the car would be safe here. He said it was the safest and cheapest place there was, not like the library where people could break your window, and that his boss was watching from the window up in the building. After when we were out of ear shot mom said "good answer". We got out of the car and walked to the building where they were doing the show. Ian and mom went to the bathroom and then we walked up the stairs, but as we were doing so mom stopped us and wanted to take a picture. But instead of Skye going in between me and Ian she went by Ian. When the picture was taken and everyone started walking again we found the lady who told us which seats we were in, she said to ask the guy in the middle row. So we walked over there, on my way there I looked to my right and I saw how far up we were and felt dizzy and almost fell over (good thing there was a rail there;). When we got into our seats we had to wait for like 25 minutes before the show started! In that time I got Rider on mom's phone and a parking lot game. When the show actually started everyone started clapping. They introduced themselves and they made a few jokes about being the Piano guys Steven said something like "I did a little ancestor history and I found that the Piano and the Cello are deep deep down actually related, by the tree" They both made jokes in between the songs but I think Steve was funnier than Jon. They played some great songs and at one point they had someone who played piano professionally and a piano teacher went up and got a standing ovation. My favorite song was It's Gonna Be Ok that was when the singer came in and he did a good job. They should have had him do more. I also liked that they said that God helped them and to keep trying especially when it is really hard. At the ending they got a standing ovation and they played what makes you beautiful on the inside of the piano. It was worth the money and an awesome experience!

Harry, Ron, and Hermione v Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle

So I am going to talk about the difference in the friendships between Harry, Ron, and Hermione vs Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle. First of all Harry could have joined Malfoy in the first year when he was on the train but I think he made the right decision to not go with Malfoy but stay with Ron. Now Harry and Ron didn't like Hermione at first. She was a bossy know-it-all. But after that they become really great friends, Ron even marries Hermione! With Crabbe and Goyle at the starting they were big stupid kids that did whatever Malfoy said, but after that they became more like, we don't do whatever you say anymore and they tried killing Harry in the 7th book. Ron and Hermione didn't get along all the time though sometimes Hermione was jealous and she went out with someone that Ron didn't like but they always became friends again after. The books don't really talk that much about Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle, but I think they probably were not really friends. Like how Voldemort never had friends, I mean he hanged out with a bunch of cool kids but he never made friends even with the death eaters, the death eaters were afraid of him. Malfoy always was acting like he was the coolest but I am sure he was very insecure. The main difference between their friendships were that Harry Ron and Hermione were actual friends and looked out for each other and helped each other, like Hermione helping Harry and Ron with the exams. But Crabbe and Goyle were kind of dumb and more like servants to Malfoy at the start, but at the end you could tell they were not friends ever.

Feudalism

1. Identify the impact the different invaders had on Medieval Europe

It made the Europeans want protection from the invaders and that is when feudalism came about to help the Europeans needs.

2. Explain feudalism and chivalry

Well to explain feudalism there were four different groups of people (from lowest to highest in social importance): 1) peasants, 2) the knights, 3) the lords, 4) the king. The peasants looked for land to grow their crops and the lords gave them the land in exchange for a part of the food that they grew. The knights were usually the second born son in royalty who wouldn't inherit anything so he usually became a knight after being a Squire. Then he sought for money from the lords, and the knights gave them protection in exchange for money. The lords got protection from the knights and food from the peasants so I think they had it the best. The king didn't get much though. The lords were sworn to protect the king, but he couldn't tax them and he didn't get much out of it. Chivalry was how they conducted themselves in battle they were brave noble loyal to their lord. They also had to not only respect noblewomen but also protect them. They also wouldn't attack a knight until he had his armor on, which would be awful. Chivalry helped reduce some aspects of the warfare at that time.
3. Explain how feudalism impacted the king. The lords? the knights? the peasants?

Well it wasn't that good to the peasants I mean they did get land and food but they could never become anything better than a peasant. for the knights I think it was good that they could become something even though they wouldn't get any inheritance. For the lords it was great, but I think they became a little to greedy at times, that's why they attacked other lords to get more power.
It wasn't that good to the king but he can't complain because he is the king, the most powerful.
4. Discuss why feudalism failed to meet the needs of the Europe.

I think it failed to meet the needs of Europe because there was supposed to be more protection, but when there was no battle the lords fought each other and it wasn't any better than being attacked from outside
5. Explain the defenses for a castle.

The defenses for a castle were a moat, Location like on a mountain or an ocean, it would be harder to attack from just one side, Inner wall, after the moat there was another wall that invaders had to destroy in order to get at the castle, Castle built of stone, was very strong thick and high, one entrance
there was always only one entrance so they could concentrate their defense on that one spot because that was the way the got in. And also there were little slits in the walls that allowed the archers from inside the castle to shoot but not get shot at.

The rule of Charlamagne

1 Explain the role of Charlemagne in unifying Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire
Well he unified the people in Europe with religion. He made everyone become Catholic, and attacked the non-Catholics, because at the time there were a lot of different religions in Europe. He encouraged everyone to follow the Catholic teaching's and because of the work he put into this the Pope Leo the third crowned Charlemagne "Emperor of the Romans".

2 Identify the steps taken by Charlemagne to strengthen hies power
He first Encompassed himself with intelligent government officials. They were called "missi dominici" They acted as messengers to different lords throughout the kingdom for Charlemagne.
He made laws that were enforced throughout the kingdom and he also got judges to enforce these laws on a local level.
He also pushed for Christianity by sending missionaries throughout the kingdom he also helped the church establish Parishes (districts) throughout the kingdom. And each of the parishes had a priest. But the priest cost money so he made everyone pay a tithe 10% so he could pay for them.

3 Explain why Charlemagne's unifying influence in Europe did not last
I don't think it lasted that long because he sort of forced everyone to be Catholic and a lot of people didn't want to be so after he died and the male heirs each took a part of the empire, it wasn't united anymore and the people did whatever they wanted.

Abe Lincoln

I have recently been reading about Abraham Lincoln who was the 16th president of the United States of America. He grew up in a small log cabin in Kentucky, it had now windows and the floor was dirt. His father Thomas Lincoln was a hard working farmer and had had little schooling. His mom on the the other hand Nancy Lincoln could read a little but she couldn't write. They were a poor family, and moved from small farm to small farm trying to get more money. When Abraham was 7 they moved to Indiana. Abraham Lincoln was a strong and tall boy for his age and he could chop wood as good as a grown man could. But when he killed a wild turkey he found he couldn't hunt because he couldn't kill anything. When he was nine years old his mother died and he was very sad. His dad couldn't take care of the children and earn money so he went and got a new wife, her name was Sarah Johnston and was a widow of three children. Abraham came to love her and became closer to her than to his own father. Abraham hadn't had real schooling and had only gone to an A,B,C school when you only learn the letters and don't know how to read. Sarah had brought books with her though and he soon learned how to read them and he memorized some passages in Shakespeare.

Getting a sheep - Narration

It had started to snow on April 2, 2018 in Newbury Massachussets. The Timothy family lived there and were very annoyed that it was snowing because it had been 80 degrees a couple days ago, and it had officially been the start of spring on March 20th. The Timothy family had recently gotten a Pregnant ewe that was most likely going to give birth to 2 lambs. London who was 13 yrs old had been sick but was getting better and only had a runny nose now had finished his breakfast with his mom was ready to go outside to see the sheep and give it its daily grain in the morning. His sister who's name was Skye had woken up late 10 O'clock, she could wake up this late because all of the kids were home schooled including Ian who was the oldest at 15. Skye was 10. London went out with Skye and mom and they went to feed the grain to the sheep  Hope ate it quickly and smelled everyone if they had more. "Let's take her out so she can walk around" said momSo we did, London opened the door and she walked out. We made sure that we all had grain so she would come to us. We walked to the back but then she stopped and started eating the grass a little. There wasn't that much grass anywhere else and she liked this little spot here there was some grass. So we walked back and fed her a little grain. "Let's go up on the other side" said mom So we went on the other side and she followed us. We found some spinach that mom had dropped the other day and fed it to Hope Mom noticed that Hope had a weird space in between her teeth. She pulled her mouth open and we saw there was a big space and a piece of grain in there. "Go see in your book if it says anything about that" said Mom and Skye ran back to the house. Then London and Mom walked back towards home and Mom searched on what plants are harmful to sheep because Hope was eating the grass that had some little bits of sumac in it. Mom found out that she couldn't eat dock and a few other things but sumac wasn't one of those, then she found that she could eat carrots and she remembered that she had two dried up gone bad carrots. "London go get those carrots so we can feed them to Hope" she said and London ran as fast as he could to go get the carrots. But when he ran so fast hope got startled and she ran away into our neighbors yard. Mom called her and held out her hand with grain but hope went farther away. So we followed her and we were afraid that she would go on the road and die there. She kept on running away! London went inside and got the carrots and got Skye. Skye didn't help much, and Hope wouldn't go to her either. Then Bubi came (Mom's dad) and Skye started yelling at him because he scared hope back towards the other yard. Bubi yelled back. Mom said not to get mad at him because he was trying to help. Then Bubi got a little grain and went to give it to her but she ran away. He said that it wasn't her grain that it was the chickens again and again, until Skye said she wasn't a Gloopachka. Then mom tried to grab her wool but she couldn't hold onto Hope. Then London gave Hope a carrot and she gobbled it up. Then Bubi came. London gave her the bigger carrot but didn't let her eat it he pulled on it while she pulled back, while this was happening Bubi came up from behind and grabbed onto her wool, she tried to get away and Bubi fell onto his knees and London fell down but Bubi held on and he got control of her. Mom came to the rescue (what an awesome mommy!), and put the leash around her neck and London fed her the carrot. We led her back into the stall and we all breathed a huge sigh of relief. Then Skye went to take the chickens out of the stall and Bubi held Hope in place. Once she got them out and got out herself, Bubi was to come out and she said "He's going to let her out now" I couldn't believe my ears when she said that and was going to teach her a lesson but because London is always so nice he didn't hurt her. (until after :)

Beachside Game Review

(1) Differences 1st from 2nd half
Well in the first half we we played negative way too much and in the second half we played forward more quickly. In the first half there were a couple times where we went back to the keeper 3 or four times but in the second half we turned out and broke pressure.

In the first half we had trouble connecting passes but in the second we kept the ball more.
In the first half we didn't turn and change the point of attack and were a little slow on the ball, but in the second half we changed the point of attack more and kept the ball.

In the first half our press was very high and they kept playing long, but in the second half we dropped off and let them play short and we got a goal out of it.

(2) 3 good things I did 3 things I still have to improve
I had some good tackles and a couple slide tackles

I won some headers and had a few good clearances

I had good pass completion and I had some good 1 v 1 defending

(3) 3 things I still have to improve
I should have played forward more instead of going back to Sam

I should have not been so tight to the striker when i was to tight he rolled me so i need to drop a little bit and then step onto him so he can't roll me but i should also not let him turn

I also should have organized the back line more and help Quinn out when he was playing center back

() How I felt before the game
I felt a little tired because I didn't sleep that well and the car drive was very long, I also felt cold

game vs NyFC

1)      A brief description on your overall thoughts about the 12 minutes in the 1st Half.

I think we played ok but should have kept the ball more. It was a little frantic and we should have played the ball backwards instead of losing it with a risky forward pass. We should have been more organized and not let them play through us but force them to go around and then win the ball on the side

22)      A brief description on whether it fits into our style of play. (Based on what we have trained this Spring)

I don't think it fits our style of play.

We definitely should've switched the point of attack and connected more passes with one or two touches we also should have tried to win the ball back in for five seconds then get our shape if we don't win it.

Possession was around 85-15 % for them

When we won the ball we lost it quickly because we played too slowly and tried risky passes instead of  forcing the ball forward we should have just kept the ball

33)      Three Positive things the team did well during that time frame.

  1. I think we did well in not letting the players turn when they had their backs to us
  2. I think we also did a pretty good jop at keeping the ball in front of us
  3. Sam also had a great save to keep us in the game

44)      Three areas of improvement from your specific group. (Examples: Ian = Back Line, JJ = Forwards)

  1.  The outside backs should've tucked in on the far sides and we should have stayed in front of the ball and we should have been more compact. We were up 1-0 so we should've just kept them in front of us and worked on winning the ball in our half and then keeping it.
  2. On the play the striker broke through, the outside back should have been tucked in and the #6 also should have dropped more. I should have called the #6 and the outside back to tuck in so there was not an opening in behind
  3. On give and go plays we should stay with the runner or call for a switch to prevent overlaps

Bayside Scrimmage 2/28

So I think I should've organized the back line at the starting of the game more than I was and I shouldn't have jumped up and turned my back on the cross at the starting of the first half. Later I did close down a shot outside the 18 with my chest.

I also should've tried to switch the point of attack more when it was on. I think it took me a little bit to get into the game because of the short warm up but as the game went on I think my play improved and I had a good slide tackle. I think I also should've created an angle more when we had the ball to switch the point of attack more.

I think as a back line we should've been more organized, compact and should have dropped a little to not let through balls get played in behind. We should have the weak side back drop back to form the line when the ball is on the other side of the pitch to provide cover. Also when a player is dribbling at the back line one of the center backs should step to the ball then the other center back and the right or left back should pinch in to provide cover.

I think in the second half we did better and were more organized. We should not have taken a break when they scored their last goal, they had an overload on the weak side which we should have covered.

Manchester United v New England Revolution

So as I have said before I play with the New England Revolution or for short Revs. Well recently we played in this 7 v 7 indoor tournament. I live about an hr from the tournament and am the farthest one, besides our keeper who lives in Maine but he was in Rome that weekend, so a keeper from Bayside had to come play with our team. He wasn't bad, he was actually pretty good and had some good saves. Well we started the tournament out good and we won the first game by a lot like 12 - 1. It was vs ODP Olympic Development Players. The second game was vs Manchester United! They scored the first goal but we came back and Oscar scored a free kick into the bottom left corner 1-1. Then Bryann scored for our team right before the halftime whistle 2-1. I was playing good and aggressive. Then the coach told us at halftime that the Man u was going to be fired up and wanting to win the game so we had to match that and keep out lead. We went into the second half fired up but Man u were just as much fired up if not more and they scored a goal 2-2. Then Ian the other center back made a mistake and they scored again! 2-3. This was not good and when we got a free kick coach said that I should take it. I tried curving it into the top right corner but it didn't dip on time and it went just over the bar. Then when we had a corner kick I went into the box but Marco hit it just a little to high and it went over my head. Then Coach made it with just me in the back and everyone else going up to attack. Which was a risk and Man u took advantage of that and they scored again, 2-4. Then I took some free kicks on the left side with my left foot to get it to curve (I was a righty) I played some good balls in but no one got their head to the ball and because I took the freekick no one else was back and they scored yet again. 2-5 was the final score. We may have been beaten but we had played good. At the ending the coach even said that I was the man of the match, which was a big compliment because we had played against man united!

Uefa Champions League Predictions

So I have recently been watching the Uefa Champions League. It is now into the Round of sixteen or the Knockout stage. The teams in the round of sixteen are Tottenham Hotspur vs Juventus which I think Tottenham will win because they got the two away goals in the first leg. Then it is Man city vs FC Basel which I am sorry to say because I am a Man United fan that Man city will win because of their 0-4 win in the first leg. Then FC Porto vs Liver pool which I am positive that Liverpool will win, because they won 0-5 in the first leg. Then Real Madrid vs Paris Saint German. This will be a close game but I think Real madrid will probably win because the score from the first game was 3-1 but that could change because Paris Saint German got the away goal.I think Bayern will beat Besiktas because Bayern are such a good team. But Chelsea vs Barcelona will be a tough game. I predict Chelsea will win but Barcelona are also a very good team and could easily win. Manchester United will beat Sevilla and there is no question about that:). I am sure that Roma will beat Shakhtar Donetsk. I can't wait for to see if I get all Predictions right. It will be fun to watch all of the games.

Fishers of men

So I have recently been reading a book called fishers of men. It's a historical fiction of the time when Jesus was teaching on the earth. It explains all of the miracles he did and the things he taught. There is a family that learns about Jesus and finds out that he is the Messiah. It starts out with just David, who is Deborah's husband learning about Jesus and wanting to follow him. Then Leah, David's daughter sees the things that Jesus is doing and she also wants to follow him. Then Ephraim David's oldest son and his wife Rachel, also want to follow Jesus. But Deborah and Simeon David's middle aged son are still stubborn and can't believe that the messiah has actually come. Deborah had a very hard childhood and she was forced to watch her father die on a cross. Simeon had started believing but when he heard Jesus say that is someone asks you to go a mile then you should go with him twain he was shocked and ran back home. Simeon didn't like this because the Romans asked people who were bad to walk a roman mile, and it was humiliating to do that so to walk two miles would be even worse. But later in the book Deborah happens to find Jesus teaching and at the time she was listening to him teach he had told his disciples (who were stopping the little children to go unto Jesus) to suffer the little children to come unto me. Deborah at the time was with her granddaughter who's name was Esther. And Esther went to Jesus and she loved him very much she even kissed him on the cheek. Jesus told Deborah that she had to become like a little child to go up unto the kingdom of heaven. She was converted after that. Then when Everyone of age was getting baptized (except Simeon) Esther asked Jesus if she could be baptized. He told her that when she got older that she could get baptized. Then she asked if Simeon could get baptized. Then Jesus lifted her up into his arms and whispered into her ear. Only Esther heard what he said. A little bit after that Simeon asked Esther what Jesus had told her. She said that he had told her that she couldn't get baptized yet. Simeon asked what he had said when she had asked him if I could get baptized. She smiled and said, he said not to worry that you would get baptized in a little while. I can't wait to finish this book, I really like it and I can't wait to finish the series too!!

Piano In the hall of the mountain king

So I recently got into piano a little more than usual and I wanted to learn the song called In the hall of the mountain king. It's a really good song but it is really hard to learn on the piano. I had already learned how to play Pachelbel with arpeggio left hand. It's like a 5 minute song and it goes really fast at times, I really love it. So then I start to play the new song In the hall of the mountain king. It's not too hard at the start but after a minute or so it gets really hard and it goes really fast! It would be a lot easier with like four hands :) I think it will be hard to get done but in the end it will sound incredible and I will be glad I stayed with it and kept playing it. I also started learning a song called I Heard Him Come, It's a very good song, and I like it too. My grandpa really loves the song In the hall of the mountain king so I think it will make him very happy if I learn the entire song. The song was composed by Edvard Grieg. It starts out very low and slow then it gradually starts getting faster until you can barely play it that fast unless you are on fast forward :b.  My dad is teaching me the song and he is the best teacher ever, I play by ear and don't know how to read music but I don't have to because I can pick it up by ear.
